Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for High Cholesterol

Skip Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice as it contains a high amount of fat and the sodium levels are also very high. Avoid the desserts section completely to limit the fat and sugar intake. Top notch cheap pizza! Good sauce, good dough, and good service. Nothing mind blowing here, of course, but makes for a great weeky special around these parts. Try the breaded eggplant topping! Also, I'm vegetarian and my girlfriend is vegan. So we usually get a half cheese/half no cheese pizza and then she adds daiya. Both sides are good!

  • Sarah G.

Decent pizza for cheap. Better than dominos or Pizza Hut, but not as good as Ledos. The cheese is good, tomatoes are fresh, but I would stay away from the mushrooms as they taste like they came out of a can. Pizza was delivered hot and fresh in 30 minutes. Solid 3 stars

I wish I could review their pizza, fresh squeezed orange juice, mojitos, and stuffed dates; but after waiting 10-15 minutes in a mostly empty restaurant, I left because I wasn't even offered a glass if water, despite the waiter bringing water to the table next to us. I left and went to the Ledo Pizza chain nearby and was immediately treated like a customer. I want to be fair to Pizza Roma. The place looks nice, the food looks good, and I was excited to try them out. I get that sometimes things happen beyond their control, and it's not all about me. I bet this place is great, but I can only speak of the experience I had. Please use this as constructive criticism. Bringing me water and explaining the situation would have made all the difference.

I have to say, I was very pleasantly surprised. We've been looking for a solid option for delivery pizza in/around Takoma Park. We love Roscoe's, but sometimes we need pizza for a crowd, a cheaper option, and a place that delivers. It was up between this place and Pizza Movers (which we haven't tried), and after having ordered last night, we have no reason to go anywhere else. This isn't fancy pizza, but it is good pizza. The crust was medium thickness and crisp -- no fork needed. The toppings covered the entire pizza and there were enough of them. We got the Deluxe XL with no olives and double green pepper and they actually did double the amount of green pepper. Delivery was fast and overall I was very satisfied.

  • Diego C.

Best affordable pizza in the Takoma Park area, in either regular or thin crust. (For calibration, I'd say Pizza Movers is second-best, followed by Ledo's). Sandwiches are good, guys at the counter always hustling. Not a great beverage selection, but you don't need that stuff anyway.

  • Jamie W.

The staff is very friendly and delivery is super quick. I usually get the chicken cheese steak sub which is good, though the bread tends to get very soggy by the time it arrives. The pizza is decent, and has the cornmeal dusting on the crust which I like. Kind of a forgettable place, though, and when I think of ordering out I always have to think really hard whether I liked it last time or not. Worth a try, I guess.

  • John D.

Food here is delicious. I'm personally a big fan of the meat lovers calzone, Italian hot cuts sandwich, and chicken cheese steak sandwich. Heard good things about the cheeseburger sub. Overall the ingredients taste very fresh. Staff is very courteous. Ambience is typical.

  • Graham C.

So normally I hate reviews from people that start with "When you're coming home wasted, this place is awesome!!" So in my defense, when you call for delivery when you're a little drunk, I find this food to hit the spot. Specifically the cheeseburger sub. It's wonderful. Happiness inside a sub roll.

  • Elijah B.

Good full pies, good steak and cheese, good service. The fries are probably their weakest link. Affordable too.

  • Greg A.

Unlike some people who have reviewed this place and not eaten the food, I have eaten the pizza here. It's by far the best pizza place around, it's reasonably priced, and the delivery is always quick (30 minutes or less after ordering). Also, I've had the Greek salad and it was pretty good. The buffalo wings were so-so. The fries are baked I think, which is maybe healthier but I probably won't order them again. Edit: I have not returned to this place is some time, and I have to downgrade my rating because of a couple of bad experiences. First, they stopped delivering to my place even though I am only about 2 miles away. Next, after I drove all the way out there to pick up my pizza and I'm half way back, I get a call that they gave me the wrong pizza and that I need to come back, return the pizza I have, and pick up my pizza. The next time there was a GIANT black hair in my pizza from the guy with the long hair that makes the pizza and doesn't wear a hair net. That was the last straw for me.

    (3)
  • Nikki C.

The gentleman at the counter was very friendly. My fries were fresh, and the hot veggie sandwich I got was surprisingly good, with an awesome spicy kick. I would have given it 5 stars if it had been a little cleaner inside.

I came here while doing laundry at the laundromat in the strip center. I ordered a regular gyro and got asked what I wanted on it. I said whatever comes on a normal gyro, and the guy looks and me and asks if I want a plain gyro. Being used to a plain gyro having lettuce, tomato and tiziki sauce, I said sure. Well, it was just a plain gyro, lamb and pita. But it was good and I got a can of birch beer as part of the order and it was just over five bucks, so I can't complain and now I know that a plain gyro here is a plain gyro.

  • Carrie G.

I will begin this review by saying I haven't had the pizza. But two of this place's teenage employees got unauthorized access into my condo building and proceeded to litter flyers all over the hallway, knocking on doors and being generally obnoxious, which was observed by one of our residents. With this kind of juvenile attitude, I wouldn't want to eat food made by this place. Makes me expect the odds for saliva as an extra topping are greatly increased.

  • Ari S.

Of course we ate it all because we're such cheap Jews but it was a terrible pizza. I would rather eat fried cabbage made by immigrants in their communal bathtub. Pizza like this makes Jesus sad. The veggie toppings tasted like Chernobyl contaminated produce. Overall, I would recommend this for anyone who is constipated. The destruction I'm about to commit on the next toilet I see will be classified as a hate crime. One star becuase the boxes the "pizza" came in were quite sturdy.

  • Roy S.

Good pizza at reasonable prices. It is interesting that it is all Halal, but you do not taste the difference, if there is much anyway. Better flavor then Pizza Movers and not so greasy...

  • Brooke H.

I got delivery from this place last weekend and all I can say is, YUM. The crust was soft, the toppings all tasted fresh, and it arrived quite hot. I ordered their meat lovers pizza, which had all kinds of fun, halal versions of sausage, ham, etc. (turkey, I imagine). As a plus, it wasn't totally greasy (I mean, it WAS pizza, after all, but it was a tolerable level of greasiness). The pizza was even delicious the next day, microwaved. (For the record, I'm a little shocked by the two terrible reviews from 1/10/10, but considering that they both reviewed it on the same day and neither have ever written a review before, I am guessing those guys must have been together and had a shared, but atypical, unpleasant experience.) I most definitely recommend this place, and plan to order again tomorrow. Yum, yum, yum.

Pizza Roma is great. I used to go to the College Park location all the time, so it's good to see a Pizza Roma closer to home! Their best item hands down is the Bacon Cheeseburger. Turkey bacon of course, as the entire menu is Halal. Their subs, wings, etc. are great as well. The pizzas are usually good, but not always consistent. The owner and staff are very friendly and laid back. Also, they deliver!

    (5)
  • Theo T.

Favorite pizza place in college park (because I couldn't afford Ledo all that often as a poor college student). Can't beat $8 for a large one-topping or $10 for a large two-topping that doesn't taste generic/processed like say a Domino's or Papa John's

    (4)
  • Amir A.

I just tried my favorite philly cheese steak, Excuse me every time I ordered it, It taste different and delicious, the guy who is making it is absolutely a chef ! love this place

    (5)
  • Katie W.

I agree that the crust is warm and chewy. Good sauce to cheese ratio. The toppings seem to rest under the cheese, which is good to know so you don't feel slighted when you open the box. Haven't tried delivery yet, but you get at least $1 off your order when you pick it up so you can't really beat a large 1-topping pizza for $8 if you don't mind leaving your house! Glad to know that I have an option other than Dominoe's!

  • Brian R.

This place finally opened after sitting empty for a year or more. It's a cheap sub and pizza place. The meats are halal, so I'm assuming that the "ham" is turkey or something. It's good to have a restaurant two blocks from me.

  • Jeff C.

We had a large pepperoni, brocolli and spinach pizza and a Greek calzone. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't that great either. Overall, can't say I would recommend it. The fellow who took our order was very nice and the food came out quickly. That being said, the most important thing is that it's not as good as Pizza Movers down the street. I'm not saying Pizza Movers is great, but it is the better of the two and I think they cost about the same. If you live in Takoma Park and don't want to spend $13 on a tiny Roscoe's Pizza, your only other choices are Pizza Roma and Pizza Movers. Pizza Movers wins.

  • Ish T.

Good food, good value. Keep it up. Greek calzone is the best. Their calzones are better than most places. Cooked well and tasty.

A fine pizza joint. The best in the area for my money. Tasty crust, good sauce, and fast delivery.

Classic oldie but goody pizza joint. Good customer service, good food, great prices. If they could just add vegan cheese, Id order pizza every week!

  • Avi L.

I've never posted a review on here, but had to share this experience. Just ordered from Roma for the first time...and last. Terrible cheese, undercooked, low quality ingredients. We threw away most of it. Will NOT be trying them again.

  • Syed M.

Amazing pizza! My favorite place to order from. Great food that is better if not just as good as any other major chain. Very quick delivery. Don't forget to order the steak and cheese , the pepperoni pizza and the meat lovers calzone!

    (5)
  • Monica F.

Stick with the steak subs - they are LOADED with meat and the bread is tasty and soft. The pizza toppings are applied SPARINGLY - (why??) I ordered like 5 toppings on my pizza yet could only taste 2 of 5 in every bite. I try to support local but this could not compare to Papa John's or Ledo's - yet the costs are similar - step it up! Sorry...
